An amazing app with … a setback

THE GOOD: Desktop Bible delivers a bible app jam packed with great features, plus all the simplicity and organization you could ask for in an elegantly designed App. The App’s "Search Verse" feature is precise and accurate, just as well the “Journal" provides what every bible user didn’t know they needed, a way to lay out there thoughts and ideas. When upgrading to the paid version, you get a reasonable amount of new features. THE BAD: The app’s has some responsive issues when calling for the "Text Highlighter" Pop-up box which was found to only appear randomly, a issue that should be resolved to provide any usefulness to this feature. The “Speaker Mode” is a great idea, yet brought a surprisingly disappointing “1990’s like Robotic Voice” in reading the text aloud; This gets grim really quick especially for a paid feature when High Quaily Voices are readly available. Lastly, the" Text Highlighter" supplies colors that appeared to be too bright and made it quite difficult to enjoy reading without being overwhelmed or distracted by the surrounded brightness of the color background. THE BOTTOM LINE: Desktop Bible (Paid) has a lot of potential, but with its Text Highlighter-Pop-up rarely ever working, the distractingly bright colors of the Highlighting Text Colors, and the disappointingly low-grade robotic playback voice for Speaker Mode keeps the paid version from being all that it can be for now. The Free Version seemed to be best bet until these issues get resolved.

I Love This App

An easy to use app. This is perfect for daily Bible reading and taking notes.

Handy App

This is such a handy app… makes my Bible reading so easy. I love the fonts, the many translations that are available. The layout is very easy to navigate. Would be very helpful if on the Read Aloud option if we were able to spped up how it reads. Right now it is a little slower than what I read, so I can actually read it faster myself. Having a more human sounding voice would also be nice. In addition, if the journal could be attached to specific chapters, instead of one ongoing entry, that would be so hepful in keeping notes with the chapters they go with.

Best Bible application for Mac, but has room for improvement

I tried a couple of other Bible applications before this one, and this was the one I felt fine with paying for. It’s great, but there are some things that could be improved upon. 1) The NKJV does not have Jesus’ words in red as the KJV does. That would be a nice fix. 2) Allow the Book/Chapter selector to the side to be minimized. 3) Display the verses in the same editing as the print Bibles instead of a space between each verse. Adding these things would allow me to give it a full 5 stars.

Useful during daily Bible Study

This app has been useful while doing my daily Bible study. I like it for the following reasons: It opens up fast, nice layout, quick to get to the book and verse, highlight function with many color choices, can mark my favorite verses, multiple versions. I don’t use the journal feature much since journaling isn’t my thing, but I do use it to take notes sometimes. One thing I would like to see added is the ability to open up more than one book, side by side, at a time since my Bible study has me looking at several verses for comparison or contrast. Then I would give it five stars.
