Imprressive App, but needs some work

I have many Bible programs on my Macbook and this is definately the most beautiful, simple and enjoyable. Particularly impressive are the many Bible versions that come with the upgraded version. One of the problems that I am having with the App is that I cannot scroll down using the touchpad on my Mac, to see the verses of scripture, past the verses that are visible. When I swipe the touchpad, nothing happens, no verses can be seen. If you hold down the control key and scroll down, all the verses are highlighted and can be seen. This is the only way that I have found to continue reading each chapter. Please fix this bug and you have a great App.

Great for quick reference and notes!!!

I really wanted a light weight easy to read app that I could quickly navigate to find and copy specific verses. This is it! I use several Bible Study apps on my Mac including Olive Tree’s Bible Study, Accordance, and Logos for study materials and research but they are all cumbersome when in comes to normal reading or picking out key verses to paste into my notes. One of my responsibilities during church is to take notes to go along with the recording of our services for our website. Depending on who is preaching I may have verses fired at me in rapid succession. Logos is way to slow to load to be of any use and both Accordance and Olive Tree are a bit cumbersome to navigate quickly. They also look like there has been little or no attention to the way their apps look in quite a while. That being said they work well enough for their purpose of in depth Bible study with multiple resources. Desktop Bible has a great UI for rapidly getting to the verse I want and copying it. It is simple, clean, fast, and intuitive. I am much more likely to use something like this to save personal notes as I read and is the only one I will be using for grabbing verses in church. I wish the big companies would get a clue and make something as beautiful and clean as this app.

This is a great tool for people wanting to Study and Journal

I absolutly love this product. It allows you to study God’s word and journal all in the same place. I love doing both at the same time and I can even take notes while I reads scripture. I type faster than I write so it allows me to record everything I am thinking about at the time I read particular scripture. I upgraded my app to get more translations and it was worth it! Now I can flip from translation to translation and compare all in one spot. This is such a helpful tool and I would recomend it to anyone looking for a good study tool.

Awesome for study and notes!

I have slowly started using electronic Bibles instead of physical hard copies due to the fact that I travel often. I have tried many Bible apps, and this is by far one, if not the best Bible app in the Mac App Store. I can study, read, search, and best of all, add journal entries. This was the feature that made me purchase this app; the ability to have notes/my own margial text notes dated to the day that I wrote them in a seperate place, not mixed with all the other files on my Mac.

Very Helpful

Since purchasing Desktop Bible, my study and quiet time with God has been enhanced. I like being able to see the split screen with two different versions showing.

easy to use, journal is great

Well pleased with app…like the journal, the ability to copy and paste any Bible verses there. Makes it much easier to organize thoughts.

Loved the app until this update.

Downloaded the app a few months ago and was loving it. Simple interface really lends itself to being a “no-nonsense” bible app. However, with the latest update I am no longer able to two finger scroll through the pages. I can still scroll through the thumbnails, but not in the actual bible text. I contacted support but have not received a response yet. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. :/

Amazing Application

This application is easy to use, clear, loads fast. You are able to compare translations side by side. I love this Bible App.

Simple and effective. Worth a buy for a good Bible app.

I like a lot of things about this app. As long as it doesnt fall into abandonware, it is worth the purchase. However, Ive run into a few quirks that are worth reporting in review. - When switching primary translations the first time after opening the app, it doesnt keep your place. After switching once, it seems to keep your place on subsequent changes. - The app insists on switching my keyboard layout back to US Qwerty. Switch to app, switch input language away from qwerty, switch to another app and back, boom qwerty. My system setting for automatically switching based on an application / document is disabled. - Copying text from the bible doesnt work with keyboard shortcuts, though it occurs to me now that this could just be because the keyboard layout is nuked when the app is activated. And a couple feature requests: - Syncd verse-by-verse scrolling between parallel versions. Currently, synced scrolling doesnt take into account different scrolling requirements for a given version or window size. If the syncronized srolling could be a little smarter about the verses displayed, it would be a much more helpful feature. - Some sort of dark mode. Reading black letters on white text isnt always easy on the eyes. - Ability to disable paragraph mode for verse display. Many translations do not prefer to put every verse on a new line. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I love this app!

Faced with the increasing bloat and ever-present and annoying bait and switch marketing by some of the “leading bible packages”, this app is refreshingly simple. It has the features like a journal that I’ve always wanted, but never got. And each release adds something I love - like new translations, the ability to pop up a daily reading. The copy and paste functions just work - no excess text that has to be cleaned. A couple of basic reference texts would make this app perfect. Thanks for the continued improvement in this app - keep them coming!

Bible app

It is extremely amazing! The only con though is that there are no section titles.

Perfect for devotional reading

This app has a very simple feature set, but it’s UI is amazing and it’s very easy to use. Considering the included versions (NKJV and NASB are what I typically read), $8 is an absolute no-brainer. This app is a pleasure to use. You probably won’t find yourself doing a ton of intensive reference study, but it’s nearly perfect for easily doing some devotional reading. Hopefully, the devs will continue active development!

Great App

This Bible app is by far my favorite. Its elegant design, matched with its simplicity make it a joy to use. My only reservation is the fact that there is no Highlight feature. I understand there is notes/journals but I would prefer being able to highlight verses like on the Bible app on my phone. Other than that great app.

Worth the investment

Having tried all the free Bible apps and having purchased several of the highly-rated ones. I have settled on Desktop Bible as my primary for the following reasons: 1. It loads quickly and returns to where it was when last used. 2. Simple, clean “look” relative to most others. 3. Rapid return of results when searching. 4. Search results are more thorough than in most other Bible Apps. Hoped-for changes: • Ability to modify the font the Biblical text is shown in, to one’s preference. • Ability to highlight part of a verse only. • Option to auto-arrange books in chronological order. • Journal-entries retaining date originally created rather than auto-changing to date last modified (or option to choose) • Concordance * Option to close the LH window with list of Books.

Using it for school.

Love that I can have my bible on half of my screen and take notes in the bible as well as doing my class notes. I do wish it was able to be minimized a bit more than it currently goes. But overall a very useful app.

Excellent. Needs God’s Word Translation

This may be the best Mac desktop Bible reading application. This application would be much improved if it included the popular God’s Word translation (GW). Many of us who read the immensely popular King James version (KJV) use the God’s Word translation to understand the more historical phrasing of KJV. If the application developer would include the God’s Word translation (GW) this application would broaden its audience considerably. Congratulations on a superb application.

almost there, but still, really good

its the best one out there, and its polished, its very nice, I think a few more little touches would make it a five star app.

nice app but one flaw

downloaded the app…all is well…except trying to scroll through the text…will not scroll….deleted the app and downloaded again twice….still same problem with scrolling…so I guess I’ll live with it…contacted the developer and followed his advice…same problem...

Helpful

I teach Bible at a Christian school. This app loads quickly. Very affordable. It has enough translations. I love the journal feature. Copy paste works great. Only criticism is please improve the search function.

I like this app, but...

Thank you for such a good app. This app is good for a daily use as a simple Bible reading. However, it has a few, it might be, bugs and errors. So, I’ve tried to contact the developer and sent an email about it in a polite way. More than two weeks, I’ve got nothing from the company. I’m not sure it is acceptable these days.
